Packing for a beach holiday looks easy until you open your suitcase at the hotel and find three sweaters but no sunscreen. Here is the list our managers give to travellers before a week in Turkey, Egypt or the UAE.
Documents and money
- Passport (check that it is valid for at least six months after your return)
- Printed or saved copies of your tickets, hotel voucher and insurance
- A bank card and some cash in US dollars or euros
Clothes
- Two swimsuits, so one can dry
- Light cotton or linen clothes for the day
- One warmer layer for air-conditioned buses, planes and evenings
- Comfortable sandals and closed shoes for excursions
Health and sun
- Sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, and after-sun lotion
- Sunglasses and a hat
- Your personal medicines in hand luggage, and something for an upset stomach
What to leave at home
Hotels provide towels, hairdryers and usually shampoo, so there is no need to carry them. Leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs, and check your airline's baggage allowance before you go: charter flights often allow less than regular ones.
